We are pleased to announce that The Riding Centre has been awarded $3,960.00 from the Ohio Farm Bureau's Animals for Life Foundation.
This grant will defray the cost of shoeing for our 11 specially trained school horses used in our therapeutic riding program, which serves 80 adults, seniors, and children with physical, emotional, and other disabilities. Shoeing is necessary during the riding season, and students have an opportunity to observe the shoeing process and learn about hoof care and proper animal management.
Organized in 2009, the Animals for Life Foundation, a 501c3 charitable organization, is working to educate the public about the value animals bring to human life and the care humans give their animals. Animals are an important part of our lives for many reasons and for many purposes.
Their mission is to promote the proper care of animals and the many ways they bring quality to human life. Their goals are to create awareness and acceptance of the mutually beneficial human—animal bond while helping the public understand and appreciate the value of animals in their lives. They also wish to increase public awareness and confidence that farmers properly care for their animals and do not condone the mistreatment of farm animals.
The Riding Centre's goals are certainly aligned with theirs!
